Rapper/performer/actor God Creative talks to Murmur about rhyme, reason, spirituality and the struggle.
If you have any pre-conceived ideas on the state of modern Irish hiphop, God Creative (aka Darren Dwyer), from North Dublin’s Darndale estate, is guaranteed to flip your script. His new single, Godzillah, taken from the debut album ‘Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost’ is a defiant call to arms and by far the sickest Irish hiphop track since, well, ever.
“When I was a 13 year-old growing up in Darndale I fell in love with hip-hop culture and my passion only grew which resulted in me beginning to craft my own rhymes. At 14 years old I spat my first verse on a pirate radio station Power Fm. Over the last few years I’ve built up this conscious resumé while watching the scene evolve, waiting for the right time to introduce myself to the public.
“There’s a real organic feel to my live band, I’ve put together some of the best and most experienced musicians in the country – they’ve come with something really special and I’ve got to live up to that. 2016 is going to be a massive year for me”. – God Creative.
